It's Your Rep People!
So I had a devotional ready, but I just felt like posting this thought instead. It's something I've been thinking about, and something that I think is really important. Do the people who know you - talking about un-saved people - and the people who don't know you, know that you are a Christian. Can they look at you, your lifestyle, your dress and talk, and your behaviors, and tell that you are a Christ follower? Or are you a person who just looks nice, does the right things and goes to church? It's something I've been thinking about and thought I'd share with y'all!:)

Hmmmm...this is really good...it's funny that you should post this!!!! I've been thinking a lot about this as well!!! Sometimes people look so much like the world and talk like the world that no one can tell whether they are a Christian or not!!! But then you have the other side...we pay attention so much to how we dress and talk that we hide behind our own facade....we have the walk, talk, and show down but we don't have the real thing!!!!! Pastor Schaap preached an amazing sermon today about giving everything up for Christianity. He used the passage in the Bible where the rich man came up to Jesus and asked what He must do to follow Him. God told him he must give up everything take up His cross and follow Him. We sell Christianity as being great and everything is going to turn out right...we sell it with all the good points and elaborate on it. When Jesus sold Christianity he didn't sell it on the good...He told them the truth. As a Christian you will be asked to give up your dreams and to follow Him. You will have to carry a cross...a cross isn't' pretty...it's not enjoyable. Too many times we focus on looking good so the world will want what we have. We have the walk down just right...they will definitely want Christianity when they see us. We got the talk going just right....we're popular so why wouldn't the world want to be us!!!!! We could just be another rich man on the street...they wouldn't know exactly that we are a Christian...they could just be coveting our personality and appearance. We could have everything physical but what we are trying to sell isn't physical. We could carry a Bible and have Jesus living in us but if we don't proclaim it, the world will never know!!!!! We could have the look and everything going for us but we HAVE to tell others about it. Some people want to call it confrontational Christianity. Why?!? Because why would the lost want to listen to someone who knocks on their door? Why would the lost want to listen to someone who just randomly walks up to them and starts telling them about God? Don't get me wrong, I think soul winning should be done correctly. We don't get in their face, but neither do we let them walk by without letting them know about a Savior who loves them!!!!! If you aren't stopping them, then how will they know?!? Do you really think that the way you dress and the way you talk is going to make them walk up to you and ask you how to get saved?!? They know they're missing something, but they don't know what it is. They need someone to talk the walk...not just walk it!!!!!!! Neither should we accept the challenge with the though that everything is going to be hunky dory!!! #1 that isn't real life...life is hard!!! #2 The Christian life is much harder!!!!! Each one of us will come to a place in our lives where we have to choose whether we are willing to give up all and take our cross and follow God. Don't get me wrong....God of course will bless us but following Him will bring suffering as well!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked this post!!! Funny that you would be thinking of the same thing!!!!:)lol
Wow that's cool!!! Yep I totally agree with that...it remind me of a song called "The Motions" by Matthew West. It's exactly what you're describing here. It does nobody ANY good, if all you do is 'go through the motions' because it's waht everyone else does. That's true that we Do have to proclaim it!! I totally agree with you, so don't think I'm fighting you with my next statement. We HAVE to wear nice clothes, talk nice, ' be cool' otherwise people WON'T be interested in us or our Christianity. Like okay...you have two people who are saved. One person is dressed really nice and overall 'has it going on'...the other person is dressed kinda dumpy-ish and really just overall appear to be 'bumb-ish' Now tell me...if you were to send those two people out to go soul-winning ALL day...........who would come back worth more people saved? Obviously the guy who looked and acted nice. I don't think I need to explain why, but you see what I'm saying? Christians need to take my point (looking nice, acting nice, being overall AWESOME) and take your point (proclaim Christ in a AWESOME way) and merge them together, and I believe that would profoundly increase the number of people saved! Your appearance and talents is an opening to be able to tell others about Christ! I really liked all the points in your comment so I REALLY hope you don't think I'm arguing with you, because I'm NOT!!!!:)
ReplyDeleteLike they say...." Great [AWESOME] minds think alike!" :Dlol
No no....i totally get what you are saying...and i totally agree!!!!! I was just talking to a friend about this today!!! How that we needed to have training courses on how Christians presented themselves. How they need to stand up straight and tall...be proud of who you are...present yourself with grace and decorum!!!! And yes....definitely dress nice!!!! I'm not saying don't dress the part...i'm just saying don't dress the part but not BE the part...i'm saying do BOTH!!!!!:) So yes...i totally agree with you on that!!!!
ReplyDeletebtw...yes...i agree...AWESOME minds think alike!!!!:Dlol other than the fact that mine is perfect!!!!!:Plol
ReplyDeleteOMW that'd be so cool to have a course like that!!!:D. Like a 'Christian Presentation Boot Camp'. WOW....we shoul totally start one!!! It'd help SO many people!!
